The Theme This Year Is -
“EVANS HAS THE SPIRIT”
What is EvansFest? EvansFest (formerly Evans Days) has been in existence since 1984. It was originally a family festival to celebrate Evans businesses. It’s still a family event but has expanded to include residents and businesses from all the surrounding towns.
EvansFest is held on the first Saturday after Labor Day. In 2014 this is Sept. 6th. It’s located at City Park, 39th and Golden in Evans.
This year we will be back where it all started – City Park. Riverside Park was destroyed in the Sept. floods last year. We’re not sure when or if it will be rebuilt. City Park, although smaller than Riverside, has its good points, the most important one being lots of big old shade trees. It will also mean that everything is closer together and easier to get to.
Start your day at 8 am with steak or carnita burritos from Palomino Mexican Restaurant or a big cinnamon roll from Schwartz’s Krautburger Kitchen. The EvansFest parade complete with floats, marching bands, cars and lots of kids starts at 10:00 at the old Evans Fire Station, heads south and winds its way back around City Park. There you’ll find lots of vendor booths, food booths and beer, water and soda. There are kids’ games and entertainment, and a variety of continuous live music to keep everyone’s toes tapping.
The day ends around 2:00 p.m. with lots of happy people.
This is all possible due to the hard work of the Evans Area Chamber of Commerce with the invaluable help of the City of Evans Parks and Recreation Departments.
It couldn’t happen at all without the support of our many generous sponsors, many of whom have been with us from the beginning. We appreciate them and hope you do too.
